More than 1.5 tonnes of pulses and beans have exported in 9 months from April to December of 2024-2025 financial year, said the Myanmar Pulses, Beans, Maize and Sesame Seeds Merchants Association (MPBMSMA). In nine months, nearly 1.56 million tonnes of pulses and beans including 700,00 tonnes of black gram, 200,000 tonnes of pigeon pea and 400,000 tnooes of mung bean have been exported.

In current financial year, the Myanmar pulses and beans market is in a good potential, said U Soe Win Maung, advisor of the Association. Myanmar exports black gram and pigeon pea mainly to India and mung bean mainly to China. The black gram season may be late this year but the output may catch up with last year with nearly 800,000 tonnes.

Currently, the prices of export items such as black gram and pigeon pea decrease a little compare to that of January second week. On January 19, FAQ one tonne of FOB price was between US$ 780 and 790 for black gram and between US$ 745 and 755 for red pigeon pea.
