In the harvesting season of mung bean in Khayan and Thongwa townships in Yangon Region, the labor cost of picking mung bean has increased compared to previous years, according to the local bean farmers.

Last year, the labor cost was about 6,500 kyats per bag of five baskets, and this year it has reached about 8,800 kyats, a Mung green farmer in Thongwa township, said. The labor cost has increased due to the current situation and rising prices, and if the labour fees are not raised, it will not be possible to come and pick the bean, Daw Khin Soe Thu, who came there to do the job from Mawlamyinegyun

The mung bean harvesting season lasts from the Myanmar month of Tabodwe to the end of Tabaung, and besides the local residents, people from distant areas such as the upcountry and Ayeyawady Region, come there to do the bean picking job.
