Farmers will be eligible for new loans only after they have paid off their previous loans on time (and cleared their previous arrears), the Myanmar Agricultural Development Bank has informed that.
Farmers who have paid off their prior loans, including interest and principal, will be granted loans at an interest rate of 5 percent per annum through the appropriate district and township bank branches starting from May 19, before the rainy planting season. Therefore, farmers who have settled their previous arrears are advised to contact the relevant bank branches to receive their 2025 rainy season cultivation loans on time. The Myanmar Agricultural Development Bank, Ministry of Planning and Finance, provides cultivation loans to farmers across the country every year according to the planting season.

Farmers are also repaying their loans on time when the crops are in season. About 43 percent of the total cultivated area in Myanmar is paddy, with about 15 million acres in the rainy season and more than 2 million acres in the summer, for a total of about 17 million acres of paddy cultivation area annually.
