Shwebo and Ayeyarwady Pawsan varieties of rice have been sold at reduced prices starting June 12, an official from the Yangon Wahdan Rice Wholesale center told One News.
To stabilize the market price of rice, Shwebo and Ayeyarwady Pawsan varieties of rice will be sold at the Yangon Wahdan Rice Wholesale center every Wednesday and Thursday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The price of Shwebo Pawsan rice will be Ks.31,000 per 10 kg bag, while Ayeyarwady Pawsan rice will be Ks.24,000 per 10 kg bag, and each household will be able to buy one Shwebo and one Ayeyarwady rice, an official from the Yangon Wahdan Rice Wholesale center said.

Currently, the rice will be sold only at the the Yangon Wahdan Rice Wholesale center, but plans are underway to sell them at other Rice Wholesale center in the future. In addition, on Fridays and Saturdays, market trucks will be rotating around townships in Yangon Region, selling Shwebo Pawsan at 32,000 kyats per 10 kg bag, and Ayeyarwady Pawsan at 25,000 kyats per 10 kg bag.
