According to the statistics of the Myanmar Rice Federation, 2.48 million tons of rice and broken rice — 1.44 million tons of rice and more than 1.044 million tons of broken rice — were exported in the 2024-2025 fiscal year.

The export earnings from rice and broken rice exports was US$1.129 billion, according to the statistics. Indonesia is the largest buyer of rice and broken rice from Myanmar, followed by China. In the previous 2023-2024 fiscal year, more than 1.6 million tons of rice and broken rice were exported, earning an export revenue of more than US$845 million.

Currently, international demand is declining as well as domestic demand, causing prices of summer rice of Eimahta to fall in the rice market. Therefore, the Myanmar Rice Federation has announced that it will purchase 1.5 million baskets of paddy and 400,000 bags of Eimahta rice in April and May as paddy prices have fallen during the summer paddy harvesting season this year.
