More than 2.06 million tonnes of shrunken corn were exported in the 2024-2025 financial year, the Myanmar Corn Industry Association(MCIA) said.
Export was higher compared to the 2023-2024 financial year, but due to various reasons, corn production may decrease this year, said U Min Khaing, executive patron of the MCIA. Earlier this financial year, duty-free corn export to Thailand has begun, but the export capacity is said to be still around five digit tonnes.

Currently, the global corn price declines and Myanmar’s corn prices are stable due to the current the exchange rate is not changing too much. Myanmar’s corn is mainly exported to Thailand, the Philippines, and India. According to the Yangon Bayintnaung Commodity Exchange, the price of corn kernel per tonne is between US$255 and US$265, and the current wholesale price of corn Kernel per viss is around Ks1,700 in the Yangon market.
