For the third week of April, the FOB price for onions to be exported to the foreign market has been set at US$240 to US$370 per ton, depending on the size. The Myanmar Onion, Garlic and Culinary Crops Producers and Exporters Association calculates and publishes the proposed FOB prices for onions, garlic, tamarind, turmeric, long pepper and ginger for export license applications every week.
The FOB price for garlic to be exported is US$1,015 to US$1,205 per ton, depending on the size, that for tamarind US$575 to US$1,225 per ton, that for turmeric US$815 to US$1,145 per ton, that for long pepper US$1,245 to US$1,585 per ton and that for ginger US$530 to US$995 per ton. Housewives said that onion prices have decreased slightly in the current domestic retail market.

According to the Bayintnaung Commodity Wholesale Centre, at the end of March, the wholesale price of Seikphyu onions was between 1,300 and 2,000 kyats per viss depending on size, that of Myitthar onion between 1,400 and 2,600 kyats per viss and that of Taungdwin onion (fresh) between 1,150 and 1,800 kyats per viss, depending on size.
Currently, the wholesale price of Seikphyu onions is between 1,100 and 1,900 kyats per viss, that of Myitthar onion between 1,400 and 2,400 kyats per viss and that of Taungdwin onion (fresh) between 1,150 and 1,700 kyats per viss, depending on size. Myanmar onions are exported to countries such as Singapore, Vietnam, Malaysia, Thailand.
