It is targeted to export 1.83 million tons of pulses in the 2025-2026 fiscal year with export earnings worth US$1.48 billion, according to the Myanmar Pulses, Beans, Maize and Sesame Seeds Merchants Association (MPBMSMA).
More than 400,000 tons of pulses have been exported in the two months from April to May this fiscal year. In exporting pulses to the international market, efforts are being made to expand existing markets rather than new ones, said U Soe Win Maung, advisor to the association.

Last fiscal year, 2.14 million tons of pulses were exported earning US$1.82 billion. Pulses are mainly exported by sea. Myanmar exports pulses to India mostly as well as to China and the European Union countries. Currently, about 20 types of beans such as vigna mungo bean, mung bean, pigeon pea, ricebean and lima bean are exported.
