The price of chickpea fell compared to last year in Magway market in this harvest season, said pulses and beans traders. The chickpea harvest season in Magway Region is from January to mid-April. In the previous harvest season , the price was approximately Ks.80,000 per basket but this year it is about Ks.75,000 .
In the current market, all pulses and beans, except for garden peas, are priced below Ks.100,000. Chickpeas are primarily produced in the Magway, Sagaing, and Mandalay regions, with 80 per cent of the production being consumed domestically.
