The Central Bank of Myanmar has issued an instruction to expand the ability to pay the salaries of civil servants digitally.
It is said that the ministries/organizations within the Nay Pyi Taw council area started paying the salaries of civil servants digitally from May 2023.
ATM machines have been installed by state and region to facilitate the withdrawal of salary for civil servants who receive salary by card.
1908 AMT machines in Yangon, 707 in Mandalay and 332 in Nay Pyi Taw have been installed and further expansion will be provided if necessary.
Now, not only servants but also staff in union territory can be paid digitally and it is included in the directive to connect and coordinate with the relevant banks to expand the digital payment of civil servants in Yangon and Mandalay.
The Central Bank has informed that it will be necessary to submit to the Central Bank the status of obtaining Payroll Service with the Bank/Financial Institution.
So ministries/organizations have been instructed to cooperate in making their employees pay their salaries digitally.
