American boxer Floyd Mayweather, who retired undefeated in 2017, promised to put on a great show when he faces John Gotti III in a rematch.
Mayweather and Gotti III will meet again on Saturday (August 24) in an exhibition match in Mexico City, after they met in June 2023 in a bout that ended with both boxers’ teams exchanging blows above the ring after the referee called off the fight.
“I’m here to show up, show out and do what I do. I’m a fighter till the day that I die,” Mayweather said during a press conference in Mexico city on Wednesday.
The last time Mayweather fought was in August 2017 when he defeated Irishman Conor McGregor by technical knockout, which allowed him to keep his undefeated record of 50 wins intact, surpassing heavyweight Rocky Marciano’s record of 49 wins without defeat.
For his part, Gotti III, who debuted in mixed martial arts in 2017 and three years later made the switch to professional boxing, has a record of only two fights won by knockout.
