On the evening of May 28, 28 foreign nationals and Myanmar nationals were arrested in the Suan Saw Ward of Muse, Shan State (North), along with related equipment used in online fraud.
The Myanmar government is conducting joint investigations with departmental officials in each region and state to prevent online fraud, which is a global threat, from taking root in Myanmar. At around 3:30 pm on May 28, a house in Suan Saw Ward, Muse, was searched and four Chinese nationals and one woman were arrested, along with three Myanmar nationals and 20 women, a total of 28 people, were arrested and 96 various phones, 35 All In One computers, one laptop, one Power Station (large), one Power Station (small), three WiFi devices, and five battery-powered motorcycles.
After conducting the necessary investigations, the illegal foreigners and criminals involved in online gambling fraud will be taken effective and severe action in accordance with existing laws. In addition, the country is actively continuing to cooperate with neighboring countries, regional countries, and international organizations to eliminate online gambling fraud and prevent it from operating in Myanmar.
