The Union Election Commission announced that it began hearing and examining two election objection cases for the 2025 general election on March 9.
Those two objection cases are the case between the applicant Dr. Kaung Htet Khine from the Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP) and the respondent U Paung Za Lian from the Zomi National Party; and another case between the applicant U Win Kyu from the Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP) and the respondent U Khine Oo from the People’s Party.
The two objection cases were submitted for the election Phase 1 and Phase 2 under Sections 67, 68 and Rule 112 of the relevant Hluttaw Election Law.The statement also revealed that in order to hear and examine the two objection cases, an Election Panel (1) and an Election Panel (2) were formed under Section 69(a)(1) of the relevant Hluttaw Election Law, with one member of the Commission acting as the chairman and the other two members of the Commission. The 2025 General Election Phase 1 was held on December 28, 2025, Phase 2 being held on January 11, 2026, and Phase 3 on January 25, 2026.
