A total of 409 homes were damaged in Tatkon, Dakshinathiri and Lewe townships of Nay Pyi Taw on the evening of February 21 due to heavy rain and strong winds, said Nay Pyi Taw Division Fire Chief U Myat Thiha.
Due to the strong winds, 36 homes collapsed and 373 homes had their roofs blown off in 23 village tracts and 45 villages in Tatkon, Dakshinathiri and Lewe townships. Fire brigades have visited the collapsed homes, inspected them and provided necessary assistance, said Nay Pyi Taw Division Fire Chief U Myat Thiha.
The Department of Meteorology and Hydrology has also announced that scattered rain is likely to occur in most regions and states, including Nay Pyi Taw, Yangon, and Mandalay, from the morning of February 23 to 26 due to the intensity of a strong low-pressure area developing in the southwestern Bay of Bengal.
