The Department of Labor announced that it will start issuing Certificate of Identity (CI) centers for Myanmar migrant workers holding work permits issued by the Thai government from February 17. The Myanmar and Thai Ministries of Labor will jointly open CI centers to allow Myanmar migrant workers holding work permits issued by the Thai government to legally reside and work in Thailand.
The CI centers will be opened in Samut Sakhon, Samut Prakan, Chiang Mai, Surat Thani and Chonburi. Workers who want to apply for CI can choose the name of the center and the date they want to apply for CI at the nearest 7-Eleven store, paying a fee of 2,670 baht.
After payment, CI can be received by showing the receipt issued by the 7-Eleven store to the CI center of own choice.
The Department of Labor has announced that the fee of applying for CI will be only 2,670 baht, that care must be taken not to incur unnecessary expenses and that the centers will be closed on Mondays and on holidays announced by the Myanmar Embassy (Bangkok).
