Ambassador of Myanmar to China U Zaw Win Myint met with Secretary General of the ASEAN-China Centre Ambassador Shi Zhongjun at the Secretariat on January 23 and exchanged views on the prospects of China-Myanmar future cooperation.
Ambassador Shi Zhongjun warmly welcomed Ambassador Zaw Win Myint, who was visiting the Center for the first time after he has taken office, and reviewed the Center’s mission, goals and activities. Ambassador Shi Zhongjun said that 2025 marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Myanmar, and it will be a fruitful year for cooperation between China and ASEAN countries.
Based on the consensus of the two leaders and the goal of coordinating development strategies, the Center is actively committed to promoting practical cooperation and people-to-people exchanges between the two sides. Ambassador U Zaw Win Myint then said that he has a special affection for China and regards it as his second home, and is very happy to serve as the Ambassador to China.
He continued by pointing out the positive role of the China-ASEAN Center in promoting closer relations between Myanmar and China and deeper cooperation between China and ASEAN countries, and stressed that Myanmar’s national stability is crucial for its development and that he is willing to learn from China’s development philosophy and experience.
He also said that he looks forward to participating in the Center’s work this year and contributing to Myanmar-China relations and domestic development issues.
