Footage released by the Italian environmental association ‘Legambiente’ showed on Tuesday (August 6) the conditions of the ”Dei Forni” Alpine glacier in Lombardy, melting due to the summer temperatures. According to the data released by Legambiente, the ”Dei Forni” glacier, the second largest glacier in Italy, is melting day and night with a high melt rate of four to eight centimetres per day of melted ice at altitudes of 2650 and 2600 metres, with a total loss of thickness approaching two metres in the frontal areas in about a month.
