The Myanmar Police Force announced on October 23 that it had identified and arrested 27 people involved in online football gambling in Yangon and Mandalay. On October 14, a search was conducted at Secret Villa Private Resort at No. (188), Pearl Ward, Mingalardon Township, Yangon Region, based on information that people operating the Ibet 789 Online Football Gambling Website were present. The police arrested 14 offenders including Super Senior Agents Yin Min Hlaing and Maria (aka) Mee Lay, and Senior Agent Win Papa Aung along with 23 mobile phones and 3 vehicles.
Then, on October 15, three more people were identified and arrested near The Lord Restaurant on Yadana Road, Kyauk Kone Ward, Yankin Township, along with 5 mobile phones and 3 vehicles. According to the statements of those arrested, on October 16, the authorities arrested three offenders together with seven mobile phones, one laptop and one vehicle in PyinOoLwin, , whereas two offenders Super Senior Agent Pyae Phyo Aung (aka Min Htet) and Agent May Myat Noe were arrested at Focus hotel in Mahar Aungmyay township, and five people, including Khin Maung Phyo (aka Zaw Win), were arrested in Dagon Myothit (East) Township, Yangon Region on October 20, along with related items.
According to the confession, the arrested people applied for the right to work as commission agents in gambling businesses such as Ibet 789 Online Football Gambling Website, Slot Website, Shan 234 website and 2D/3D website as commission agents and they had to advertise the gambling posters. The more users the agents find, the more potential they will gain to be senior agents. While serving as senior agents, they can be super senior agents if they can find commissioned agents and users.
The statement also states that 17 men and 10 women, a total of 27 people involved in online gambling, were arrested along with related items. The statement also states that efforts are being made to effectively prosecute the perpetrators and that parents and the public are urged to report online gambling operators to relevant security agencies if they know of any.
