The second round of elections will be held in 100 townships, said Acting President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, Chairman of the State Security and Peace Commission and Chairman of the National Solidarity and Peacemaking Central Committee Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing.
He made the remarks while attending the ceremony to mark the 10th anniversary of the Nationwide Ceasefire Agreement (NCA) held at the MICC-I in Nay Pyi Taw on October 15.
The first round of elections will be held in 102 townships, the second round in 100 townships, and the third round in the remaining townships, said Senior General Min Aung Hlaing. Due to various reasons, it will not be possible to hold a full election in some areas.
The future government will consider continuing to hold elections in the remaining townships, unable to hold elections due to various reasons, during the by-election period. Our country needs to stand firmly on the democratic path chosen by the people, and the military is standing firmly on it, said Senior General Min Aung Hlaing. It is reported that there are 6 parties competing nationwide and 51 parties competing in regions and states to contest the general election to be held on December 28.
