Yangon Region has recorded over 2,000 dengue fever cases and 15 deaths as of August, according to the Yangon Region Public Health Department. The most dengue fever cases in Yangon Region have been recorded in Dagon South, Dagon Seikkan, Hlaing Tharyar, Mingalardon, Htantabin, Thanlyin and Kyauktan townships.

Yangon Region usually experiences a spike in dengue fever cases every two years, and this year, there has been a spike in dengue fever cases since the onset of the rainy season. As a result, the Public Health Department has implemented a plan to prevent and control dengue fever and has managed to cover more than 95 percent of the cases. As of the end of July, there were 1,750 dengue fever cases and 13 deaths in Yangon Region, according to the Yangon Region Public Health Department.
