The list of winners of the 31st Pakokku U Ohn Pe Literary Awards was announced on August 5, and the Pakokku U Ohn Pe Lifetime Literary Award was won by Dr Khin Than Oo (Ma Moe Myay), according to the announcement of the Pakokku Literary Award Fund Supervisory Committee.
Author Maung Nay Chi (Pyay) won the second prize in the novel genre with ‘Kochin Sarnaing Gyapazay’. In the collected short stories genre, Nyein Nyo won the first prize with ‘Ma Khantaw Myit and other stories’, Thet Oo Khin the second prize with ‘Aryonoohmar Kyinusaya and other stories’, May Lat Han the third prize with ‘Kyaung Sayamalay Phyitchinde and other stories’.

In addition, the winners in the collected poem and the research genres of Pakokku U Ohn Pe Literary Awards, the Pakokku U Ohn Pe Library Book Award and the Pakokku Scholarship Award were also announced.
The cash prize for Pakokku U Ohn Pe Lifetime Literary Award will be increased from 10 million kyats to 15 million kyats this year, and the first prize for the Pakokku U Ohn Pe Manuscript Award will be increased from 700,000 kyats to 1 million kyats, the second prize from 500,000 kyats to 700,000 kyats, and the third prize from 400,000 kyats to 500,000 kyats, respectively, the announcement said.
