Due to a shortage of good quality black sesame in Magway Township, the price is rising, according to traders.
This is the time to trade black sesame and white sesame from the west bank of the Ayeyarwady River, and good quality products are scarce. The price of black sesame has recently reached the highest price of around 280,000 kyats per basket, and only good quality products are bought, said U Kyaw Htun, vice chairman of the Magway Commodity Exchange.
The price of black sesame depends on the quality of the product, and previously it was around 200,000 to 260,000 kyats per basket while there is almost no demand for white sesame. Since sesame and peanuts, which are grown as rain crops in the eastern part of Magway, will also be available in the near future, only good quality products will be able to sell well, according to traders.
