During the current rainy season, brick, sand, and gravel prices are rising in Magway, and trading is also slow, according to brick, sand, and gravel traders in Magway. The prices have been rising since early July and are expected to remain high until the end of this year.
Currently, the prices in Magway are around 280 to 300 kyats per brick, 25,000 to 30,000 kyats per hundred- cubit- foot of sand, and 65,000 kyats per hundred- cubit -foot of gravel, which are sold through a home delivery system. Currently, prices are rising, and sales have not been good compared to previous years, and the number of plots has increased, so taxes have to be increased, said U Myint Kyaw, chairman of the Magway Brick, Sand, and Gravel Trading Association.
Later, if the river water levels rise and gravel extraction decreases, the price of gravel may increase even more. In Magway, the brick, sand and gravel businesses are expected to operate more smoothly starting in December, which is the open season, and prices may start to fall, according to brick, sand, and gravel traders.
