A total of 28 people died in road accidents on the Yangon-Mandalay Expressway in the first six months of the year, according to the Expressway Police Force.
From January 1 to June 30 this year, 94 road accidents occurred along the expressway, killing 28 people including 14 men and 14 women.
The causes of traffic accidents are human error, vehicle error, road error and weather, and people should drive according to the speed limit, said an official of the Expressway Police Force.
In addition, A total of 219 people including 119 men and 100 women are injured in road accidents on the expressway in the past six months. The damage was estimated at over 400 million kyats. In 2024, there were over 200 traffic accidents on the expressway, killing 88 people and injuring 360, according to the Expressway Police Force.
