The agricultural output in Meiktila Township has lost billions of kyats as the output did not meet the target, Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing said.
He made the remarks while meeting with district and township-level department officials, town elders and MSME entrepreneurs in Meiktila District, Mandalay Region, on July 10 to discuss regional development.
In the 2023-2024 fiscal year, the output of monsoon paddy in Meiktila Township did not meet the target with average of 62.65 tons per acre, which means the output decreased by 37.35 tons per acre and faced a loss of 10.369 billion kyats, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing said.

In the entire Meiktila District, there was a less of 79.791 billion kyats in revenue due to the failure to meet the target for the monsoon paddy cultivation, and the revenue was reduced by 4.6 billion kyats due to the failure to meet the target for the summer paddy production, he said.
In addition, due to the failure to meet the target for the peanut cultivation, 46.895 billion kyats were lost and 580.48 billion kyats in cultivation of crops such as sunflower and green gram,the total loss in the agricultural sector was about 980 billion kyats due to the failure to meet the target for yield per acre in Meiktila District, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing said.
Therefore, if agricultural activities can be carried out according to the target for yield per acre y, it will be of help to the local economy, and it is necessary for all to work together , Senior General Min Aung Hlaing said.
