The State will provide over 1.6 trillion kyats from the National Disaster Management Fund to repair more than 50,000 houses damaged by the Mandalay earthquake in 54 townships in eight regions and states, including Nay Pyi Taw, according to the Disaster Management Department of Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement.
The assistance will be provided according to the value determined depending on the type of damaged house. One-third of the assistance will be provided in cash and the remaining two-thirds will be provided in kind of building materials of equivalent value. A total of 51,210 houses were damaged by the Mandalay earthquake that struck on March 28, said Chairman of the State Administration Council, Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing at the second donation ceremony held on May 30.
