Smart card issuance will be temporarily suspended from July 4, the Ministry of Immigration and Population has announced. The suspension is due to server maintenance aimed at upgrading the e-ID system and improving service quality.

During this upgrade period, services such as obtaining UID numbers (commonly known as smart card production) at township offices and online personal data verification will also be temporarily halted.
Therefore, the ministry stated that efforts are being made to quickly resume e-ID-related services and the reopening date will be announced in due course.
