Currently, rice trade is sluggish at Yangon rice shops, and the prices are stable, a sales manager at Shwe Moe Rice Trading in Yangon told One News.
The sales of ordinary rice are slightly more brisk because more people are buying coarse rice than fine rice at rice shops.
The slow trade during the rainy season is normal, and trade will be brisk back once the rainy season is over, the sales manager said.

In the current rice market, a bag of fine rice costs from 85,000 to 130,000 kyats, while a bag of ordinary rice costs from 53,000 to over 100,000 kyats.
Last June, the Department of Consumer Affairs issued a reference price for a 24-pyi bag of rice in the domestic market, ranging from a minimum of 60,000 kyats to a maximum of 155,000 kyats, depending on the rice type.
