A company named Global Earth Agro & Aqua in Pantanaw Township, Ayeyawady Region, is generating electricity from rice husk, an agricultural byproduct, according to the company.
By purchasing and using rice husk, a waste product, farmers will also earn more income, and the electricity generated from rice husk will be able to generate 12 megawatts of electricity, the company said.
Nowadays, natural gas and fuel oil are used to generate electricity, which is causing global warming and climate change, and the company is working to generate electricity using rice husk as a green energy, which protects the environment.
12 one-megawatt gasifires have been built in the factory, and five of them are currently operating as a test run. If all the machines are operational, they will be able to generate 12 MW. Currently, only one megawatt gasifier is in operation, and it consumes 1.6 tons of rice husk per hour, according to the company.
