As per the completion of the Myanmar-India border demarcation process, the Kabaw Valley belongs to Myanmar’s territory, and Indian politicians should respect Myanmar’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, Maj-Gen Zaw Min Tun, leader of the Information Team of the State Administration Council, said.
Regarding the Tamu-Kabaw Valley region, a member of the Manipur State Parliament said in an Indian Senate session that the region belonged to India according to the history, he said.
Besides, regarding the entry of foreigners into Myanmar through Kabaw Valley region, it is found that Chief Minister of Mizoram Lalduhoma spoke of the arrivals of foreigners to Myanmar through Mizoram at the Mizoram Parliament on 10 March and that The Times of India published that a report would be presented to the India parliament saying that nearly 2,000 foreigners visited the border area of Aizawl between June and December last year but they were never seen in the area and that their main intention was believed to cross into Myanmar to interfere in its internal affairs. As has said before, the Myanmar government does not want groups using Indian territory to oppose Myanmar and does not accept groups using Myanmar territory to oppose the Indian government, Maj-Gen Zaw Min Tun said.
The demarcation of the India-Myanmar border area that has been already measured and recognized before includes Kabaw Valley region, and there has been a Memorandum of Understanding on Border Area Cooperation between Myanmar and India signed on May 8, 2014. Therefore, some politicians in India should not act to damage the bilateral relations solely for their own political interests and should respect Myanmar’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. Myanmar will continue to do what it should be informed and said regarding this issue, Maj-Gen Zaw Min Tun said.
