Nine agreements on economic infrastructure, banking, education, communications, technology and humanitarian cooperation were signed between the governments and private sectors of Myanmar and Russia at the 5th Myanmar-Russia Intergovernmental Trade and Economic Cooperation Commission held at Myanmar International Convention Centre II in Nay Pyi Taw on February 23.
The special session of the commission meeting was attended by Member of State Administration Council Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Transport and Communications General Mya Htun Oo, Member of SAC General Nyo Saw and Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Planning and Finance U Win Shein as specially invited guests as well as union ministers and officials of the relevant ministries and the deputy minister of economic development of Russia along with Russian delegates.

Union Minister Dr. Kan Zaw, chairman of the joint commission of the Myanmar side, gave an opening speech at the meeting expressing his belief that the results of the discussions and agreements of the meeting will further strengthen the friendship between the two countries, boost bilateral trade and investment and bring about cooperation that will benefit both countries.
After that, Minister of Economic Development Mr. Mr Maxim Reshetnikov of Russian Federation, the chairman of joint commission of the Myanmar side, gave a speech saying that the Russian market welcomes Myanmar businesses and that the Russia-Myanmar Economic Forum will continue to be held to expand the communication networks of businessmen of the two countries.
At the meeting, Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Myanmar Mr Iskander Azizov added that both countries are focusing on cooperation in the sectors of energy, nuclear, agriculture and minerals to promote the trade value between the countries. After that, nine bilateral agreements were signed and exchanged by officials from relevant ministries and organizations.
