A total of nine ambulance stations including seven of the Ministry of Health and two of the Myanmar Red Cross Society have been opened in seven townships in the Nay Pyi Taw Union Territory, Union Minister for Health Professor Dr. Thet Khaing Win said at the event to launch emergency ambulance system within the Nay Pyi Taw Union Territory on February 18.
The opening of these stations is to save lives and provide patients with necessary initial treatment in a timely manner. Doing so will prevent unnecessary loss of life, loss of limbs and subsequent socio-economic losses, Union Minister Professor Dr. Thet Khaing Win said.
The nine ambulance stations are available in the townships of Zabuthiri , Ottarathiri, Pobbathiri, Dekkhinathiri, Zeyathiri, Lewe and Pyinmana in Nay Pyi Taw Union Territory, and if there are injured patients in traffic accidents, the emergency number 192 can be contacted to call an ambulance.
According to the Department of Road Transport Administration, there were 3,875 traffic accidents in the regions and states and on the Yangon-Mandalay Expressway in 2024, resulting in 1,119 deaths and 5,576 injuries.
