Over 1,000 foreign nationals who illegally entered Shwekokko and PP Park areas in Myawady Township, Kayin State have been detained, and representatives of Myanmar, China and Thailand negotiated and discussed matter on returning them to their original countries, according to a statement released by the Information Team of the State Administration Council.
In the period from January 30 to February 16, 1,030 foreign nationals were detained after taking measures to investigate those who committed illegal online gambling, online fraud and other crimes in the said areas.

Secretary of the Central Committee on Repatriation of Illegal Immigrants Deputy Minister for Home Affairs Maj-Gen Aung Kyaw Kyaw and officials, Assistant Minister of Public Security of China Mr. Liu Zhongyi and officials and the Secretary-General of the Ministry of National Defense of Thailand and officials, were in Myawady on February 17 morning, the statement said. It is also learnt that representatives of the three countries held a meeting to discuss transfer of the detained foreign nationals to their respective countries as soon as possible.
The detained foreign nationals are those who illegally entered Myanmar through border routes after passing through some neighboring countries including Thailand. In addition, necessary personal information and records have been collected to transfer the detained foreign nationals to their respective countries in accordance with legal procedures. The State is also actively cooperating to quickly identify and transfer foreign nationals, who have committed online fraud, online gambling and other crimes in the Shwekokko and KK Park areas in Myawady Township, to their respective countries, the statement said.
