Vice-Chairman of the State Administration Council Deputy Prime Minister Vice-Senior General Soe Win stressed that MSME businesspersons should strive to operate solar energy system on a manageable scale using vacant land in industrial zones and in other areas.

The message was given at a meeting to coordinate holding the Union-level MSME Exhibitions and Competitions took place at Nay Pyi Taw on February 5. The aim of the activity is to overcome the challenges posed by electricity outages.
So far, six companies in Thilawa industrial zone have been producing and operating 4.9 megawatts produced by using solar energy system. Following the example, other companies are also producing and operating 8 megawatts of electricity.

The cost of producing electricity may breakeven in a few years, for example, the 20-megawatt solar power system within the office of the Commander-in-Chief has been in operation since its construction began about two years ago. It is expected to reach its break-even point within a year and a half, said Vice-Senior General Soe Win.
