The Secretary-General of ASEAN, Dr. Kao Kim Hourn and the UN Secretary-General’s Special Envoy to Myanmar Julie Bishop met on January 21 and discussed the current situation in Myanmar, ASEAN announced.

The meeting focused on the important role of UN agencies in supporting ASEAN’s humanitarian efforts and discussed accelerating the implementation of ASEAN Five Point Consensus.
Furthermore, they discussed the importance of cooperation to achieve regional peace, stability, and the interests of the people. Julie Bishop, a former Australian Foreign Minister, was appointed as the UN Secretary-General’s Special envoy to Myanmar in April last year.
