Loans will be reimbursed to the agriculture, livestock and MSME sectors as priority in 2025 through local and foreign companies that have been granted permission to operate microfinance business, according to the Ministry of Planning and Finance of the Union of Myanmar.

For the loans, there are six types of sectors: agriculture, livestock, services and manufacturing, trade and education, and of them, services and manufacturing industries of MSME sector have been reimbursed more than 300 billion kyats of loan. In 2025, the priority will also be given to the sectors of MSME, agriculture and livestock, U Zaw Naing, director-general of the Financial Regulatory Department of the Ministry of Planning and Finance, responded to a question through the state-run news agency.

According to the Ministry of Planning and Finance, the companies that have been granted licenses to operate microfinance businesses are providing the largest amount of loans to people in rural areas. To date, there are 174 local and foreign companies licensed to operate microfinance businesses in 14 regions and states and Nay Pyi Taw Union Territory, and more than 2,000 billion kyats in loans have been reimbursed to the sectors of agriculture, livestock, service and manufacturing, trade, and education.
