Union Minister for Labour U Myint Naung and a delegation led by Mr Liu Yipeng, Deputy Governor of Dehong Prefecture People’s Government, Yunnan Province, People’s Republic of China discussed the matters to send Myanmar workers to China under MoU system at the meeting hall of Ministry of Labour in Nay Pyi Taw.
The discussions covered cooperation to protect and uphold labour rights for both legally employed MoU workers and undocumented Myanmar workers in Dehong Prefecture by Dehong Prefecture authorities. Additionally, they emphasized fostering friendly and cooperative cross-border labour relations.
Last June, some agencies sent workers to China under MoU system but no longer sent again because of some difficulties and the wages for Yuan 1700 is still under negotiation, said U Charles Myo Thant, chairman of the Myanmar Overseas Employment Agencies Association( MOEAA.)
Originally negotiated wages of Yuan 1700 costs above 900,000 in Myanmar Kyat calculated based on December 26 exchange rate of Ks. 537.4 per Yuan. Additionally Myanmar and Dehong Prefecture authorities earlier signed an MoU on 12 January in Mangshi City, China, to enable the lawful deployment of Myanmar workers under the MoU system.
