The traditional boat race will be held three times at Inle Lake, Shan State (South), U Sithu Kyaw, deputy director of the Shan State Directorate of Hotels and Tourism said.
The boat race takes place once in the last week of December in 2024 and January and February in 2025. It is held to develop the tourism industry in the Inle region, explore new destinations and tourist attractions and to ensure that the leg-rowing tradition is not lost and enable the travellers to see.
The boat race at Inle Lake is held annually along with the PhaungdawU Pagoda Festival but this year, both of them could not be held due to flooding caused by the seasonal storm.
