Since 23 May 2024 as of today, during seven months period, more than 140,000 Internally Displaced Persons repatriated, said Chairman of the National Committee on the Resettlement of Internally Displaced Persons and the Closure of Temporary Shelters Union Minister Lt-Gen Tun Tun Naung.
The message was delivered at the coordination meeting (2/24) of the National Committee on the Resettlement of Internally Displaced Persons and the Closure of Temporary Shelters held at the Ayeyawady Hall of the Ministry of Border Affairs. During seven months period, 35,245 households , 141,788 persons have been repatriated, and 380 temporary shelters have been closed.
Furthermore, the contributions from Regions/States government and donors and humanitarian aids and other facilities were provided for the IDPs who were displaced by armed conflicts and terrorist acts.
Union Minister Lt-Gen Tun Tun Naung highlighted that currently it is necessary to fulfil the basic necessaries of IDPs by the combined efforts of the Union, State and donors as well as to repatriate the people as soon as the areas become stable and peaceful.
